Women in Business Grow Study Launched in Kenya

TISA in collaboration with Women in Business (WIB) have launched women in business GROW Study at a women convening on 30th March 2023 at The Golden Tulip Hotel-Westlands, Nairobi, Kenya.

The meeting objective was to reflect on the significance of affirmative action in public procurement and propose solutions to the challenges facing women-led businesses in public procurement meetings deliberated on the place of AGPO and other institutional policies like the PPAD Act within public procurement, especially for women-led businesses.

Africa Freedom of Information Centre partnered with The Institute for Social Accountability(TISA) on a study research on the barriers and solutions for inclusion of women Led Businesses in Kenya.

The convening was premised on the findings from this study.

The meeting brought together at least 200 participants drawn from different actors including: Ministry of Public Service, Gender, and Affirmative Action, Parliament, Kenya Women Parliamentarians (KEWOPA),Young Parliamentarians Association, Auditor General, Counties Assemblies Forum (CAF),Treasury, Public Procurement Regulatory Authority ,Civil society organization, Women Traders, AGPO beneficiaries, Women Enterprise Fund, National Gender and Equality Commission, Private sector, Members of the Public and Traders in Nairobi City County.

The study launch increased awareness and sensitization of the women and young informal traders on the opportunities to trade under AGPO.
