Shadow Report on the State of Right to Information and Freedom of Expression in the Republic of Cameroon

This shadow report was presented to the ACHPR by the Africa Freedom of Information Centre (AFIC) in collaboration with Citizens Governance Initiatives (CGI), AfroLeadership and ADISI-Cameroun in respect of Article 9 of the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights (the Charter) regarding the situation of Right to Information and Freedom of Expression in the Republic of Cameroon.

The report highlights the state of access to information and freedom of expression in the Republic of Cameroon including the ratification and domestication of African Union treaties that recognise the right of access to information and freedom of expression, implementation of recommendations from treaty bodies and adoption and implementation of national laws and regulations in support of the two rights as well as their implementation in practice.
