Promoting the Right to Information in Africa on the Basis of SDG 16.10.2 and African Union Frameworks

The project, whose overarching goal was to promote access to the adoption and implementation of access to information (ATI) laws in the context of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 16.10.2, African Union (AU) treaties, and the Model Law on Access to Information for African Union member states sought to achieve the following objectives:

  1. To advocate for the adoption of ATI laws in Namibia, Zambia and The Gambia
  2. To monitor implementation of ATI obligations and engage treaty bodies

AFIC implemented various activities to promote the adoption and implementation of ATI laws in Africa, ranging from strategic engagements with key stakeholders, review of draft ATI bills, and engaging with ATI oversight mechanisms, holding high-level engagements on ATI, among others.
