With humility AFIC is pleased at its being appointed by CoST- Infrastructure Transparency Initiative as Africa Regional Manager. The appointment represents a strong confidence and recognition of the work AFIC has done in facilitating the growth of CoST Uganda and its open contracting portfolio in general.
AFIC has over the past 18 month been hosting CoST Uganda Chapter following a failed relationship with a the former host. Over the period, CoST governance structures were set up and programmes got off the ground. Through pilot activities government and other stakeholders have appreciated the need to strengthen disclosure and assurance process both of which are being progressively implemented. Critically important, trust among key players in industry, citizens and government around infrastructure projects is being established.
This appointment comes with greater responsibility and accountability. As soon as I pen off this article, it will be time to start working. Our vision for this responsibility is to build a strong and connected network of CoST Chapters across Africa.
